Question by WuzUp?: Is Carbonite a good way to view photos and other sensitive material when in Saudi Arabia?
PCs and all storage media are subject to search and seizure in Saudi Arabia. This includes photos of women showing any skin above their ankles which is considered pornography. Is a solution to store all of your “sensitive” material at a on-line storage site like Carbonite.com and open it when safely away from the religious police at your hotel?

Of course, that’s fine – just so long as it is not one of the hundreds of thousands of censored sites you can’t access from Saudi

Does it make me a total dork that the first words that sprung to mind were ‘frozen carbonite’?

"Frozen carbonite" — that’s great! Didn’t think of that when I first viewed the image, but now that you mention it…

Speaking of carbonite… I heard Leo LaPorte talking about an online backup service called Carbonite. I can’t believe how they’ve stolen that name… for shame.

Who creates these? And is this presented vertically or horizontally?

    Negative space. Hmmmm…

The Exploratorium had a concave face on display yesterday. Seeing the effect in person as I was walking by, watching it follow me, put it into perspective — now I get it. I’d love to see it in life-size art form. Need to go try Quattro.

Eppie: Hansa Solo is standing vertical…. She is one of four freeze frames in a row

sparklig: yes. She is a hollow carving into the block.

Some optical cross talk gets her happy feet a flutter…

Perfectly replicated. Kate and I watched Starwars again last night… still grinning… and it turns out I have been subconsciously modelling my haircut on Han’s… ;p
