How many Twitter followers to you need to obtain to get paid for your Twitter success?

Twitter doesn’t pay you, if you post ads, the ad companies pay you. I’d say you’d need somewhere in excess of 150000 followers

King Kwame Indicted Convicted! RESIGNES!

Update: Dateline Sept. 4 2008

Wayne County Circuit Court Judge David Groner presided over the court case in which Kilpatrick agreed to plead guilty to two felony counts of obstruction of justice by committing perjury.

Part of the plea agreement includes immediate resignation within 14 days; restitution payments totaling million; and four months in jail.

The court will asses the million restitution fee based on how much Kilpatrick already has and how much he can pay.

Kilpatrick will be sentenced Oct. 28 at 2 p.m.

Kilpatrick is barred from running for public office for five years, according to the plea deal.

He will also have to hand over his law license and turn over his state pension to the city of Detroit.

Groner read aloud all of the charges against Kilpatrick and told him all but two would be dismissed.

He also asked Kilpatrick several questions regarding his guilty plea, and whether he was doing it on his own willingness and whether he was satisfied with what was taking place.

Groner asked Kilpatrick if he understood he was giving up the right to be innocent until proven guilty.

"I gave that up a long time ago," Kilpatrick replied.

Kilpatrick answered each question and stated that he knew exactly what was taking place and was agreeing to plead guilty.

Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick read the following statement in Wayne County Circuit Court on Thursday as part of his plea agreement in a perjury and misconduct case:

"I lied under oath in the case of Gary Brown and Harold Nelthrope versus the city of Detroit, Case No. 03317557NZ, regarding information that was relevant to claims made by Gary Brown and Harold Nelthrope. I did so with an intent to mislead the court and jury and to impede and obstruct the fair administration of justice.

"I lied under oath at a civil deposition for the Brown-Nelthrope lawsuit on Oct. 11, 2004 in the city of Detroit. I also lied under oath in the civil jury trial in the Nelthrope-Brown lawsuit in the Wayne County Circuit Court on Aug. 29, 2007."

Kilpatrick, 38, is in his second four-year term as mayor. He was charged with 10 felonies in two cases.

In a letter sent to Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm early Thursday afternoon, Kilpatrick said his resignation will be effective Sept. 18, 2008.

Dateline Monday March 24, 2008,

The tenacious Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy announced a 12-count criminal indictment against Detroit’s Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick (the Idi Amin of the midwest), and former Detroit Chief of Staff Christine Beatty, Listed below are the 8 felony charges (to date) against the mayor.

Charges Filed Against Kilpatrick
• Count 1: Conspiracy to obstruct justice (5-year maximum sentence)
• Count 2: Obstruction of justice. Accused of firing Detroit Deputy Police Chief Gary Brown as part of an effort to illegally hamper a criminal investigation and committing perjury to hide the firing of Brown or a relationship between the mayor and Beatty. (5-year maximum sentence)
• Count 3: Misconduct in office. Accused of firing Brown to hamper a criminal probe of Kilpatrick’s personal conduct or the conduct of his security unit and committing perjury to hide the firing. (5-year maximum sentence)
• Count 4: Misconduct in office. Accused of authorizing the city to settle a whistle-blowers’ lawsuit with the motive of preventing the release of text messages showing the mayor and his aide lied under oath. (5-year maximum sentence)
• Count 5: Perjury in court. Accused of lying under oath in August 2007 by saying he did not fire Brown, did not know Brown was investigating him or a rumored party at the mayor’s official residence and testifying falsely as to other circumstances surrounding the termination of Brown. (15-year maximum sentence)
• Count 6: Perjury in court. Accused of falsely testifying in August 2007 that he didn’t have a romantic or sexual relationship with Beatty. (15-year maximum sentence)
• Count 7: Perjury outside of court. Accused of swearing falsely before a notary public in June 2003 as to the circumstances surrounding the "un-appointment" of Brown. (15-year maximum sentence)
• Count 8: Perjury outside court. Accused of swearing falsely before a notary public in October 2004 as to the circumstances surrounding the "un-appointment" of Brown. (15-year maximum sentence)

And just to “add insult to injury” she had a bit of fierce commentary on what he should have learned as a 5 year old,

”…tell the truth, take responsibility for your actions, admit when your wrong,
play fair and be fair, don’t take or use things that aren’t yours, and there are consequences for bad behavior.”

– Kim Worthy, Wayne County Prosecutor

I mean most of us learned this as stuff children right? Hizzoner should have known better on multiple levels, he did go to go to law school? Truth be told this couldn’t have happen to a nicer guy.

I pay out for honesty in such cases. I don’t know how an addict is supposed to survive these days. What’s the point of having a government if they can’t look after the poor, lazy and addicted. It would still be far more noble than murdering almost a million Iraqis and almost four thousand American soldier for absolutely no reason at all and at cost of half a trillion dollars of tax payers money. It would also be better than someone like that stealing the money from more productive citizens. In fact it might be quicker and better to give him some drugs and beer coupons from the establishment. Meanwhile tax payers have paid for a war against drugs at a huge price since Nixon launched that ill-conceived waste of time and money. All that has done is breed corruption and violence. Politicians really should not be allowed to run the country. Obviously they are hopeless at it.

the shot is unique the man is not hopeless only depressed, all he really needs is friendship. a man with friends never has to be homeless or addicted. a person should only have to reach out and human kindness should provide better commodities then hookers and drugs, ( beer on the other hand is wonderful). each situation is specific and possibly tragic, however odds prove that for each tragedy life provides happiness to those as deserving as the begger. in his case if all he looks forward to is money for fleeting happiness then his life is fleeting. in my opinion his honesty is lost in his objectives.

  19. lindamccraven
    November, 24th 2012 at 9:58 am

not to be mean but sjmmeyer2003 how many homeless friends do you have? and how does one go about befriending people who you don’t know whether or not they are crazy and going to kill you? i’m not heartless at all. just at such a loss as how we should deal with these people. i saw one yesterday in the 105 degree heat. it broke my heart but i couldn’t take him home with me. so what to do?

at first i thought i’d give the money because of honesty also but then i thought how long and hard my husband has worked at jobs he didn’t like just to support our family and i thought NO.

  56. dnj_Brian

Detroit was killed long before Kilpatrick came around. It was killed by years of poor decisions in government before him, and by the people that decided to stop caring about it, whether they stayed, or left. It was killed when the rest of the region and the state decided they could do without the City, and started staying away from it, and even hating it.

The Kilpatrick scandal is just a blip in a long, tumultuous decline of a great city. It still might come back, or it might fail, but a political scandal will have little to do with it.

  57. pinehurst19475
    November, 25th 2012 at 1:44 pm

I agree with DA2Brian. Read Thomas Sugrue’s book "Origins of the Urban Crisis" for a sort of forensic autopsy of what killed the city.

This was just email to me from friend who still lives in Detroit not knowing I had already posted this image… it speaks volumes

A man died and went to Heaven. As he stood in front of St. Peter at the pearly gates, he saw a huge wall of clocks behind him. He asked, "Why are all those clocks here?" St. Peter answered, "Those are Lie-Clocks.
Everyone on Earth has a Lie-Clock. Every time you lie the hands on your clock move."
"Oh," replied the man,” very interesting… whose clock is that?"
"That’s Mother Teresa’s clock," answered St. Peter. "The hands have never moved, indicating that she has never told a lie."
"Incredible!" exclaimed the man. "And whose clock is that one?"
St. Peter responded,” That’s Abraham Lincoln’s clock. The hands have moved only twice, telling us that Abe has told only two lies in his entire Life."
"Where’s Kwame Kilpatrick’s clock?" asked the man.

"Kwame’s clock is in Jesus’ office. He’s using it as a ceiling fan."

  60. "CAVE CANEM"
    November, 25th 2012 at 2:57 pm

I’m sorry but I inspired to disagree… I have 4 words for you Ray Nagan & Harold Washington both whom were responsible for personal and public failures of, dare I say it, Biblical proportions…

These two men couldn’t have been more of, a public embarrassment to their families, cities, and citizens. They ultimately proved themselves disastrous underachievers for their communities, who wildly supported them, while being controlled or determined by their managerial incompetence.

They were both rewarded with electoral landslides after the fact.

This is what I predict will happen, over the next few months Kwame will give several speeches/public statements about conspiracies and how outsiders (read suburbanites) that are out "to take Detroit back" (read from "Us folks") slowly turning public opinion back in his favor. Not unlike his recent "invite only," stunt filled state of the city speech (sprinkled with the just the appropriate amount of crafted 1930’s furor and adulation) which was dutifully reported by some as sign of continued popular support for his corrupt administration. In the end his powerful mother (a federal
    Congresswoman)
will trade her super-delegate vote (or someone in her sways vote), coupled with Mayor Kilpatrick’s guarantee to yet again "get out the vote" this fall, that is sure to (delivering I bet a 90%+ one-sided Detroit landslide), secure a Michigan win for his party in November. For these promises, he will be afforded the chance to speak at the National Convention in Denver surrounded by flags and the party’s consecrated old guard for effect. He will give what is sure to be parroted again and again as "the speech of a lifetime," no I’ll give you one better, "the voice of an disillusioned generation," during which we will be privileged to hear mostly absurd but passionate rhetoric about "historical racial wrongs" not unlike those coming from the "honorable Rev. Jeremiah Wright" out of Chicago today.

Then soon after the convention at the height of his popularity (read polls) "shockingly" the decision will come down from the same Detroit judges that spent more time trying to embarrass Bush for "wiretapping" non-citizens than prosecuting/investigating local officials for the "criminal graduation" rates in that town (announced at 25% today) or the magically misappropriated 375 million dollars in city funds that can appear or disappear depending on where Detroit is in the election cycle. These all knowing, politically wizened, robed clerics will throw-out the damming text messages as "illegally obtained, private phone conversations," (on city phones, of course) and subsequently we then can all wait for Kwame to look into the camera, with his patented smug curled upper lip, earring back in place, to say,

"I told you I’ve done nothing wrong Detroit, there is and never was any evidence of wrongdoing. This was all THEIR fault"

Afterwards, years after this has blown over I predict he will win in 2010 (due to lack of any serious opposition by his own or other pathetic political party) by approx. 60% and things will continue on as they do now… same as it ever was, same as it ever was!

I’ve seen this played out all before, I’ve seen this my whole life!

Think I’m way off base here? I’m taking $1 "Trading Places" bets (to be fulfilled through pay-pal) with first ten people who believe I’m left field.

    Bueller? Bueller? Anyone?

Your question is directing you in the wrong direction.

You can make money on Twitter even with little or almost no followers. (You can reach people on Twitter by posting interesting tweets and they are all public, no matter how many follower someone has! People do searches on Twitter, too – and will find these tweets!) The amount of followers has nothing to do with your success. While it looks impressive if someone has thousands of thousands of followers it will tell you nothing about the financial success someone is having using Twitter.

How do you actually make money using Twitter? First of all Twitter does not pay you for anything.
You can use Twitter only as a tool to attract interested people. Here some ways what people do to earn money:

    1. They create Twitter accounts around popular subjects like hobbies or for example environment issues and start posting INTERESTING tweets that want people to read more and to follow a Twitter account.

    2. Then people create tweets that make people click on links that are:

    a) make people subscribe to a newsletter
    b) fill out a survey
    c) read a product or service information page where products or services are sold

    3. Most Twitter accounts will gather and collect names and contact information and then send these people offers and advertising and then earn either money

    a) with selling their own products (software, products)
    b) earn affiliate money (referring people to sites like amazon, ebay and get paid a commission
    if someone buys something)
    c) getting paid with CPA Marketing, where companies pay you if you make other people fill out
surveys and also leaving their contact details

So Twitter is just like Facebook and other social media networks just a PLATFORM where you can find paying customers, the platform itself will NOT pay you.
